What fees can I expect, when building my web site?
Having a website involves three basic costs:
- Website Design and Development (the highest cost, one time fee) – this is where the web designer/developer will actually build the website in a software program. A website is nothing more than a bunch of files, both graphic and text that are woven together around a common theme. The cost for developing the site depends on a variety of factors including number of pages, content, graphic customization, or any special features that a client requests such flash, e commerce, or content management tools.
- Hosting – Once the site is built, it must be hosted on a public server so the general public can access it through their Internet provider. Basic hosting costs start at $100.00, but they can vary depending on services needed. Look for these services.
- The space provided for your site on the server should have ample room for high traffic(bandwidth). When a site doesn't have enough bandwidth, the web visitor finds the site slow loading and difficult to access.
- the hosting package should have a least one email address that can be accessed through the web
- the hosting package should have a reliable track record of maintaining high dependability. When your server goes down, your website and associated email is unavailable.
- Domain Name – a domain name is the web address (or URL) where users find yoru web site (www.yourcompany.com). Domain names are unique and cannot be duplicated. The cost for registering a unique domain name is about $10.00 per year.
